Saturday April 3, 2010 was a busy day for The Pride of The Pike, it started early at 6 am with back to back RIT calls assisting Station 16 (Yeadon Fire Co.). At 15:22 CHFC was dispatched to assist CHPD with a vehicle that ran through the fence in the K-mart parking lot. The vehicle was resting on a large boulder that was preventing it from entering Darby Creek. The fence needed to be cut away to allow the vehicle to be removed. The day came to an end at 10:42 pm with a request for Quint 3 to relocate to Station 44 (Springfield Fire Co.) who was assisting Station 14 (Swarthmore Fire Co.) on a working fire.

On Thursday, March 25th, the Engineering Department assisted by Deputy Chief, Assistant Chief and a few other members took on the task of pulling the front wheels of the Big Fox (1955) to check the brakes and wheel bearings. Surprisingly the front end was in fairly good shape. A couple of new brake cylinders, some preventive items on the cooling system and the Big Fox will be back in service.

Saturday morning, January 30th, at 07:15 Company 03 and 103-7B were dispatched to Baltimore & Diamond for a motor vehicle accident.  EMS unit 03-7 with FF EMT Chris Caruso and FF EMT Mike Mackenzie arrived on location and reported a two vehicle head on collision with entrapment.  A request was made for Rescue 19 (Lansdowne), two additional Medic units and an additional BLS.  That added Medic 06-7 (Collingdale), Medic 103 (Delco) and19-7(Lansdowne).  Two patients were quickly removed from the vehicles and transported to local hospitals.  One driver had to be extricated before being transported.

Santa Claus continued an annual tradition of visiting the children of the borough on Christmas Eve.  Santa parked his sleigh at the fire house and toured Clifton Heights on the pumper.  He was accompanied by "elves" who spread Christmas cheer and gave out candy canes.

December 2, 2009 at 00:24 hours Clifton Heights Fire Company & EMS along with Delco Medic 103-7B were dispatched to Baltimore & Oak Ave for a MVA (motor vehicle accident).  03-9B (N. DePompeo) arrived on location and requested the assignment be upgraded to MVA with entrapment. This added Lansdowne Fire Co. Rescue 19 to the assignment. Due to the heavy entrapment Springfield Fire Co. Rescue 44 was also requested.   
Crews worked for over 30 minutes to extricate the driver of the vehicle.    

The annual Clifton Heights Fire Company Banquet was held on Saturday November 14 at the Oaks Ballroom in Glenolden. Everyone had a good time and the food and beverages were great.

Chief Fire Marshal John R. Waters of Upper Merion Township a special friend of the Clifton Height Fire Company was presented with Honorary Life Membership for all he has done for the company over the years.
 
Unit citations were presented to the crews of Engine 74-2 (Primos Secane / Upper Darby Fire Dept) and Quint 3 for risking their own safety while attempting to save a life on a call in March 2009.

On October 10, 2009 we participated in the building dedication and housing parade for the Tinicum Township Fire Company.  This was also the annual Delaware County Firemens' Association parade.  Station 3 did very well with the Tuskie winning Best Appearing Hand Drawn Apparatus, Quint 3 took second place for Best Appearing and Most Functional Ladder Truck.  The day was topped off by winning Best Appearing Delaware County Fire Company Overall.

Congratulations to the Tinicum Township Fire Company on their new station and apparatus.  We would also like to congratulate all the winners at the parade.

Thank you to the crew  members who spent endless hours preparing the apparatus first for the Quint housing, then the Fire Prevention Open House and finally the Tinicum parade and housing.

Our annual Fire Prevention Open House was held on Friday, October 9, 2009. Equipment demonstrations and various fire apparatus from Clifton Heights as well as Lansdowne Fire Company, along with the mobile units from the police Major Incident  Response Team and Delaware County Communication Center participated in the event.  

The residents had an opportunity to view first hand the apparatus and participate in demonstrations. The children had an opportunity to experience the smoke house educational trailer courtesy of Collingdale Fire Company #1.

CHFC hosted a housing ceremony for Quint 3 on the evening of Saturday, September 12, 2009.   John Waters, Chief Fire Marshal of Upper Merion Township, served as the master of ceremonies.  Members of mutual aid and neighboring fire companies, State Representative Nick Micozzie, Borough Mayor Joe Kelly, and members of Borough council joined the celebration.  Rev. Chris Franz of St. Mark Lutheran Church offered the invocation and blessing of the new piece of apparatus.

Following the ceremony, members of the CHFC and guests enjoyed a reception in the Fire Hall.

We would like to extend our thanks to the Housing Committee and our members for their efforts in preparing the apparatus, building, and grounds for this special event.
